Experience:
Tony has over 35 years’ experience, having been admitted as a solicitor in Northern Ireland in 1986. After spending 13 years in the same firm where he became a partner, Tony then spent 20 years in practice as a Barrister at the Bar of NI from 1999 until 2019 when he left the Bar and returned to the Solicitors’ profession to work in a leading defence firm before joining Murphy O’Rawe in 2023.
Tony’s career as a Solicitor and at the Bar has focused almost entirely on acting in defence litigation on behalf of leading insurers and public bodies, covering a wide range of cases, including large loss claims and involving employer’s liability, public liability, road traffic, commercial claims and recovery actions.
Tony also represents insured and private clients in HSENI and Police investigations and prosecutions involving road traffic, Health and Safety and regulatory offences. He provides representation at PACE interviews, Magistrates’ Court, Crown Court and at inquests.
Tony holds the Law Society of Northern Ireland’s Certificate in Advanced Advocacy.
